Cosplay & Character-Inspired Attire Guidelines

Our Approach

Lore & Luster is designed as an immersive romantasy experience, and while we deeply celebrate creativity and self-expression, traditional cosplay is not permitted at this event.

This decision is intentional and allows us to:

  • Maintain a cohesive, elevated event atmosphere
  • Ensure safety and comfort for all attendees
  • Align with venue and operational guidelines
  • Keep ticket prices low as the Convention Center requires Metal Detector usage with Cosplay Events

That said, we absolutely encourage attendees to engage with the spirit of storytelling through fashion.

What Is Allowed: Character-Inspired Dressing

We welcome and encourage “Disney Bounding” or character-inspired attire—outfits that capture the essence, aesthetic, or color palette of a character without being a direct replica.

Think:

  • A gown inspired by a favorite fantasy heroine
  • A modern outfit reflecting a beloved character’s palette or vibe
  • Subtle nods to books, worlds, or tropes (fae, morally grey, celestial, etc.)

This approach keeps the magic alive while maintaining the elevated tone of Lore & Luster.

What Is Not Allowed

To preserve the experience and ensure safety, the following are not permitted:

  • Full, screen-accurate cosplay or replica costumes
  • Props, weapons, or accessories (real or replica)
  • Masks or full-face coverings that obscure identity
  • Oversized wings, armor, or structural pieces that impede movement
  • Costumes that disrupt walkways, vendor spaces, or crowd flow

If your outfit would typically be worn at a comic or anime convention, it likely falls outside our guidelines.

Tone & Aesthetic Guidance

When planning your look, we encourage you to lean into the Lore & Luster world:

  • Romantic, fantasy-inspired silhouettes
  • Soft opulence, flowing fabrics, layered textures
  • Florals, metallic accents, and ethereal details
  • Outfits that feel like they belong in a story - not on a stage

If it feels like you could walk through a castle, a forest, or a ballroom in it - you’re on the right track.
